Senior Financial Reporting Analyst

Location: Sacramento, CA Onsite Position

• This is a brand-new role and there are no other analysts on the team, so they need someone who can operate independently.
• Mark won't be managing this person closely, so they must be comfortable running with things on their own and staying organized.
• The role is very communication-heavy (mostly email), not a lot of meetings.
• Strong Excel skills are a must - they will take a basic Excel test during the interview.
• They use Yardi mainly to pull reports, so any experience there is a plus.

Preferred Background

• He does not want data analysts, computer science majors, property accountants, or staff accountants.
• Needs someone with a finance-focused background: business, finance, or accounting degree is ideal.
• Looking for someone with 4 7 years of financial analysis experience.
• The person doesn't need to come from real estate or property management.
• Most important: someone who thinks critically and has strong business acumen.

Personality Fit

• Needs to be proactive, not passive.
• They'll be working with a lot of people and need to be comfortable chasing down answers.
• Someone who isn't afraid to follow up and "bug" people when needed.
• Should be confident sharing opinions with brokers after reviewing financial statements.

Day-to-Day / Skill Focus

• About 5 hours a week reviewing and analyzing financial statements.
• As long as they understand what a balance sheet and P&L are, Mark can train the rest.
• Needs experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and building analytical models.
• Excel skills required: vlookup, pivot tables, and general modeling.
